Procedure[edit]
- To register a food premise, applicants will need to get in touch with the Building and Health Officer.
- A contact number is provided below which you can use to telephone the office.
- When you get to speak to an officer ask which documents will you need to present when you apply for the procedure.
- If you are planning to sell food during fundraising events and markets, you will need to complete the Food Handlers Declaration, comply with the guidelines for outdoor food handlers and make application for Temporary Food Premises.
- You may be asked to attend a food training seminar.
- An inspection will also be conducted in your premises.
- When all of these is done, the license will be issued to you.

Environmental Health
The Shire of Christmas Islands Environmental Health Plan outlines the number of food premises inspections each year depending on the category the food premises belong into. Currently food premises belonging in the high risk category are inspected three times every year whilst those labeled as medium risk requires 2 inspections annually.
Home Catering
Home based catering is treated the same way as a food shop. Persons undertaking food preparation at home for on sale off the premises in the community are required to have there premises registered as a Food Premises. The premises will not be eligible to be registered unless planning permission is first obtained and the premises is suitably constructed for the preparation of food.
Outdoor Events and Festivals
